The position of gender advisor involves monitoring compliance with gender equality principles.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has announced the appointment of Oksana Hryhoriyeva as a gender advisor, according to the Strana news outlet.

Hryhoriyeva’s responsibilities include "ensuring coordination between various units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the Ministry of Defense, as well as developing and implementing a comprehensive gender strategy."

Previously, Oksana Hryhoriyeva held a similar position in the command of the Ground Forces.

The role of a gender advisor involves overseeing compliance with gender equality principles, developing relevant recommendations, and implementing policies aimed at integrating gender considerations into the military sphere.

The UOJ previously reported that a transgender individual from the U.S. became the face of a Ukrainian Armed Forces media project for Western audiences.
