Trump issues official Holy Week Message
The U.S. President pledges to defend Christianity in schools, the military, and public institutions.
On April 13, 2025, the White House released an official Holy Week message from U.S. President Donald Trump, in which he openly professes his Christian faith and vows to protect it at every level of government.
In the statement, President Trump and First Lady Melania “join in prayer with Christians celebrating the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ – the living Son of God who conquered death, freed us from sin, and unlocked the gates of Heaven for all of humanity.”
The President reflects deeply on the meaning of Holy Week, beginning with Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and culminating in the Paschal Triduum – the three-day observance that includes Holy Thursday with the Liturgy of the Last Supper, Good Friday, and the climax of the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday night.
“During this sacred week, we acknowledge that the glory of Easter Sunday cannot come without the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the cross,” the message states.
A central focus of the message is the Trump administration’s commitment to defending Christian values:
“This Holy Week, my Administration renews its promise to defend the Christian faith in our schools, military, workplaces, hospitals, and halls of government. We will never waver in safeguarding the right to religious liberty, upholding the dignity of life, and protecting God in our public square.”
In conclusion, President Trump prays for “an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our beloved Nation” and that “America may always remain a beacon of faith, hope, and freedom for the entire world.”
Prominent American evangelist Franklin Graham called the message “historic,” noting that in his lifetime, no president has ever communicated the Gospel so clearly.
