A Russian drone strike on the night of January 29–30 hit a residential building in Sumy, resulting in 9 deaths and 13 injuries.

Metropolitan Yevlogy of Sumy and Okhtyrka expressed condolences following the Russian airstrike on civilians in Sumy on the night of January 30. According to the press service of the Sumy Eparchy, prayers are being offered in all churches and monasteries for the repose of the deceased and the recovery of the injured.

"The enemy's airstrike took the lives of innocent people, destroyed homes, and shattered destinies. This sorrow affects all of us, for ‘if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it’ (1 Cor. 12:26),” said the metropolitan in his message of condolence.

He assured that he is praying for the repose of the deceased, strength for their families, and healing for the wounded, asking the Lord to give strength to all who are dealing with the aftermath of this tragedy.

"I call upon the clergy and faithful to offer sincere prayers for the repose of the departed, the recovery of the injured, and peace in our long-suffering land. May the merciful God grant us endurance, strength, and hope in this difficult time," the UOC hierarch said.

Following Metropolitan Yevlogy's directive, all churches and monasteries of the Sumy Eparchy are praying for the repose of the victims, healing of the wounded, and God's help for all those affected by the Russian airstrikes.

On the night of January 30, a Russian Shahed drone struck a residential building in Sumy. The attack killed nine people and injured thirteen, including an 8-year-old girl.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Yevlogy also expressed condolences for the victims of the November shelling in Sumy.
