Culture Ministry demands to return St. Job icon from Pochaiv Lavra to museum
The Lavra urged not to believe fake news spread by the media.
The press service of the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra issued a statement in response to the demand by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for the immediate return of the icon of St. Job of Pochaiv to the state.
"Based on a receipt issued by the Spiritual Council of the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra on April 16, 1991, to the director of the Pochaiv Museum of Atheism, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine demands the urgent return of the icon of St. Job of Pochaiv to the museum. On August 2, 2024, the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra submitted a request to the ministry for documentation related to the ownership and registration of the icon, upon which the demand was based. However, no documents have been received to date," the statement reads.
The Lavra also noted that an unprecedented amount of false information about the monastery has been spreading in the media in recent days. In response, the press service urges people to refrain from disseminating inaccurate information that could damage the honor and dignity of the monastery’s residents and parishioners.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the Pochaiv Lavra refuted media fakes about violations in the Assumption Cathedral.
