Cardinal Parolin: Pope will return to govern the Church but not like before

The Vatican Secretary of State said it would be necessary to find "different ways" for Pope Francis to return to his activies.
After a 38-day battle with pneumonia in the hospital, Pope Francis will return to governing the Catholic Church, but possibly not to the same extent as before the crisis, stated Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Secretary of State, on March 27, 2025. This was reported by Ansa.
Parolin, speaking on the sidelines of the "Chair of Welcome" at Fraterna Domus in Sacrofano near Rome, answered journalists' questions about Pope Francis's health condition.
"I continually receive messages from people who say precisely 'we are praying for the Pope, we are praying for his full recovery, for his full re-establishment so that he can return to carry out his activity, to govern the Church,'" he stated.
According to the Vatican Secretary of State, in order for the pontiff to return to work, "different ways" will need to be found.
"Maybe not like before, we will have to find different ways but one in which he is still able to do it," Parolin said.
As reported by the UOJ, the cardinal of the RCC stated that the Pope will have to relearn how to speak after his treatment.
