Metropolitan Luke: Those sowing death now will also come to God's Judgment
Metropolitan Luke, head of the Zaporizhzhia diocese, noted that despite the horrors of the war, people are not in a hurry to go to churches.
Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol urged believers, who suffer losses and sorrows in the days of the war, not to let fear, cowardice, lack of faith, hatred and malice into their hearts. Vladyka wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“Those who sow death will be judged by God. They, too, will eventually come to His Judgment. We need to learn to trust God in everything,” Vladyka noted.
Also, according to the Archpastor, there is no need to tell God what He “should” do, whom to “punish” and whom to “forgive”.
“We are not His advisers. He Himself will figure everything out. We’d better obey God and live according to His commandments. When He spoke to people in the language of love and bestowed upon them His bountiful gifts, human hearts remained deaf. Now He is shouting into their ears with sorrows and shocks in the hope that human souls will wake up from sinful hibernation and live at least the rest of their lives in prayer and repentance,” says the Metropolitan of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol.
However, Vladyka Luke draws attention to the fact that, unfortunately, most people, despite all the horrors of war, do not rush to churches, do not change their lives and do not even think of repenting, but on the contrary, they become victims of propaganda of malice and hatred.
“But at all times, even pagan peoples, who were far from believing in the true God, perceived troubles and sorrows as a call to repentance. God loves us more than our own father and mother. He desires that we all enter into the unfading light of His eternal life. Now, in this difficult time, God is close to us as never before. Only the hearts of people, unfortunately, are still far from Him,” His Eminence added.
As the UOJ reported, Metropolitan Luke of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol noted that if Ukrainians want the Lord to preserve the country, then they must live according to His holy commandments.
