Kyiv authorities announce Easter services should be held online
The Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) believes that Easter services could potentially pose a threat to people's lives.
The Kyiv authorities do not plan to alter the curfew hours for Easter night, meaning that church services will be conducted via online broadcasts. This was announced on Facebook by Mykola Povoroznyk, First Deputy Head of the KCSA.
“This is the fourth Easter we are celebrating under martial law. Therefore, we urge residents to give preference to online broadcasts of services and to remember the curfew in effect from 00:00 to 05:00. There are no plans to change the curfew hours in the capital,” Povoroznyk emphasized.
He noted that ahead of the holiday, the city administration will appeal to religious leaders to limit mass gatherings and ensure maximum access to online broadcasts of religious services via Ukrainian media and the internet.
“We continue to live under conditions of full-scale war. And the most important value is human life. So please act responsibly, follow the recommendations of the military, avoid large crowds, and take care of one another!” the deputy head of the KCSA stressed.
He did not specify why he considers the night Easter service to be particularly dangerous to the lives of Kyiv residents.
Povoroznyk also added that during the 2025 memorial days, the city will organize transportation to municipal cemeteries. A detailed list of routes will be published later on the Official Kyiv Portal.
