Patriarch Kirill urges Russians to be baptized for Russia’s invincibility
The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) believes that the spirit of Orthodoxy lives even in those Russians who do not consider themselves part of the Church.
On February 4, 2024, during a sermon at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Patriarch Kirill of the ROC called on Russians to spiritually mobilize and be baptized so that Russia would become invincible, according to the Moscow Patriarchate’s press service.
He warned that Russia had entered a troubling period where "many have turned against us." Patriarch Kirill stated that Russia’s enemies had always been defeated because, in his view, "the spirit of Orthodoxy lives within Russians, even those who do not consider themselves part of the Church."
The patriarch declared that the time had come not only for military but also for spiritual mobilization, and that those who were hesitant should be baptized.
"Those who have not yet returned and been baptized – go and receive baptism! Those who are baptized – attend God’s churches, enrich yourselves with the great thousand-year-old wisdom of our people, whose source has always been not human wisdom, but the wisdom of God Himself. Only then will our country truly be invincible," the head of the ROC stated.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that, according to a State Duma deputy, the ROC is one of the most effective institutions of the state.
