After the decision of the Polish Constitutional Court to ban abortion, protesters in Warsaw started throwing stones at the police.

In Poland, there have been massive protests and clashes with the police over the decision of the Constitutional Court, which banned the termination of pregnancy in the event of illness of a child, reports the Polish resource RMF24.

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets on October 22 after the verdict was announced by the judges, who declared unconstitutional the provision on the possibility of abortion due to the child's illness.

The demonstration escalated into clashes with the police. Tear gas was used against the protesters.

Law enforcers arrested 15 people who violated the immunity of police officers. “We are talking about aggressive behaviour, such as throwing stones,” said Sylvester Marczak, spokesman for the Warsaw Police Department.

The protesters also violated quarantine restrictions – the police sent more than 200 notifications to the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service.

The protesters dispersed but are going to continue the protests on the evening of October 23.
