Court sentences a toiler of Pochaiv Lavra to five years
The toiler of the Pochaiv Lavra who was "spotted" by the SBU as a spy within the monastery has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
The court sentenced the toiler of the Pochaiv Lavra of the UOC to five years in prison for "spreading Russian propaganda narratives on social media", reports the SBU press service.
They stated that during his stay at the Pochaiv Lavra, the man "hid his pro-Kremlin views" but propagated them on social media.
The SBU noted that on his social media accounts, he "praised the top military-political leadership of the Russian Federation and discredited Ukrainian defenders".
The man was found guilty of collaborationist activities and justifying Russian aggression. Additionally, the court confiscated his property and prohibited him from holding any positions in government structures for 15 years.
The Pochaiv Lavra Administration stated that this refers to a toiler without clerical rank or monastic tonsure, who was not among the brethren of the monastery.
As previously reported, the SBU "enlisted" a criminal suspect into the brethren of the Pochaiv Lavra.
