Monastic tonsures performed at Tikhvin Convent of UOC in Dnipro
The rite of tonsure was performed by Metropolitan Iriney.
On the evening of April 10, 2025, Thursday of the sixth week of Great Lent, Metropolitan Iryney of Dnipro and Pavlohrad performed monastic tonsures at the Tikhvin Convent of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Dnipro, as reported by the press service of the Dnipropetrovsk Eparchy.
During the service, prayers were offered by the secretary of the eparchial administration, Archpriest Mykola Nichiporuk, the confessor of the eparchy, Archpriest Vasyl Krat, the abbess of the convent, Mother Superior Zosima (Svarchevska), the nuns, and pilgrims.
During the tonsure, the nun Catherine received the name Virineya in honor of the martyr Virineya (Veronika), and the novice Anna received the name Gerontiya in honor of the Venerable Gerontiy, the canonarch of the Caves.
A monastic tonsure was also performed. The novice Irina was tonsured with the name Irineya, in honor of the Holy Martyr Iriney, Bishop of Lyons; the novice Anastasia was tonsured with the name Raphael in honor of the Archangel Raphael.
The novices Victoria and Anna were clothed in the rassaphore.
After the completion of the tonsure rite, Metropolitan Iryney congratulated the newly tonsured nuns, and rassaphore novices, wishing them God's help in fulfilling their holy vows.
