Three more communities in Chernivtsi confirm their loyalty to UOC
In the Sadgora district, parishioners of three churches voted to remain in the bosom of the UOC.
On February 23, 2025, three church communities in the Sadgora district of Chernivtsi voted to remain loyal to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), according to the press service of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy.
The voting took place at the Nativity of the Theotokos Church, as well as at St. Nicholas Church and St. Spyridon Church.
"At 16:00, the three communities together proceeded in a cross procession to the center of Sadgora, where they gathered at the local cultural center to jointly serve an Akathist to St. Nicholas and a prayer service for the health of Ukrainian soldiers," the statement reads.
The diocese's press service also noted that at 17:00, a cultural and educational event was scheduled at the cultural center, where unidentified individuals allegedly planned to claim ownership of three Orthodox churches in Sadgora, the Roman Catholic Church of St. Michael the Archangel, and a synagogue on Yaroslav Mudryi Street.
Foreign journalists observed the events.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that on February 16, Greek Catholics and supporters of the OCU held a vote outside the fence of the UOC cathedral.
