At the prayer breakfast, the OCU leader told Americans that Ukraine needs a "sword" to stand against Russia.

The head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), Epifaniy Dumenko, hinted at the necessity of Ukraine regaining nuclear weapons to counter Russian aggression during his speech at the Ukrainian Prayer Breakfast in Washington, which took place as part of the U.S. National Prayer Breakfast.

Speaking about the confrontation between Ukraine and Russia, Epiphanius stated that "there can be no peace with the devil. Evil does not disappear on its own – it must be resisted." Developing this thought further, he reminded the audience that "our country gave up nuclear weapons, believing that the protection and order promised by great nations were the best way to preserve peace."

"Unfortunately, the fact that we desired peace and did everything to maintain it in our country and in the world was perceived by deceitful people as our weakness. They thought that we, our country, and our land would be an easy prey for them," the OCU leader stated. He added that in the fight against Russia, "not only good intentions are needed – actions are required."

"A sword is needed so that we can stand against evil on the day of adversity and, having overcome everything, remain standing," Dumenko concluded.

As a reminder, Yevstratii Zoria previously assured Americans that the ban on the UOC is a measure to protect religious freedom.
