The money was raised by the children during Christmas carolling in their village.

Children from the Sunday school “Omophorion”, which operates at the Dormition Church of the UOC in the village of Hlynsk, Rivne region, raised 28,000 hryvnias for children with cancer during the Christmas holidays, reports the press service of the Rivne Eparchy of the UOC.

"Over several days of Christ's glorification through carolling, the children collected 14,500 hryvnias, which they decided to donate to support children with cancer at the Rivne Regional Children's Clinical Hospital," the statement reads. "An additional significant donation was made by school student Maryana Rybachok, who raised 13,500 hryvnias by selling her handmade paintings, bracelets, and other items at various fairs."

The eparchy says that this is an important cause for Maryana. She has previously been among those who needed treatment and knows how important such help is.

"Let this example become an annual tradition, which, alongside the glorification of Christ, will bring about good deeds. As it is written in the Scriptures, 'faith without works is dead.' May the Lord reward a hundredfold everyone who has contributed to this noble cause!" wrote the eparchy’s press service.

As reported by the UOJ, the Rivne Eparchy helped children with cancer through a charitable concert.
