Filaret asks Trump for help in registering UOC-KP in Ukraine
A letter from the head of the UOC-KP to Donald Trump has already been delivered to the White House.
On the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration, Filaret Denysenko, the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC-KP), wrote a letter asking for assistance in registering his organization in Ukraine, according to the UOC-KP press service on Facebook.
“I hope that under your presidency, strategic cooperation between our countries will continue, and the rights of the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate to freedom of conscience will be protected. Our Church seeks to renew its legal registration with Ukrainian state authorities and to freely live and carry out its salvific mission,” Filaret wrote.
He also expressed hope that Trump’s leadership would bring a "just peace" to Ukraine.
The Telegram channel For the Ukrainian Church published a photo of "Bishop" Luka Zgoba of Philadelphia with a Protestant pastor who spoke at Trump’s inauguration, stating that Filaret’s letter has already reached the White House.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Filaret blessed Zelensky to work toward the destruction of the UOC.
